Wheat Procurement Gains Momentum in Vidisha After Fixes
Wheat Procurement in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, has witnessed a significant improvement after earlier logistical and technical challenges were successfully resolved. According to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, procurement operations have now regained momentum, ensuring smoother functioning across mandis in the region.
Over 80% of farmers have completed their slot bookings, reflecting improved participation in the system. Earlier issues related to gunny bags, transport delays, and digital registration systems had slowed down the process, but these hurdles have now been addressed effectively. As a result, wheat procurement in India has seen a more streamlined and efficient execution in this region.
The progress marks a positive shift in wheat procurement in MP, especially across all four districts of the constituency, where procurement centres are now operating without major disruptions. This has strengthened the overall Wheat Procurement process, ensuring better coordination between farmers and government agencies.
Officials noted that improved Logistics and smoother supply chain management have played a key role in accelerating procurement activities. Payments to farmers are also being processed more quickly, bringing relief during the ongoing rabi season.
The government has set ambitious Wheat procurement target goals for the season, aiming to ensure timely procurement and fair prices for farmers. Strengthening the agriculture sector remains a key priority, with digital systems and infrastructure upgrades expected to further improve efficiency.
With operations now stabilised, Vidisha is emerging as a model for effective procurement management in Madhya Pradesh.
