Apple’s iPhone Becomes India’s Top Branded Export as Shipments Hit ₹2 Trillion
Apple’s iPhone has emerged as India’s largest branded export, with total shipments reaching around ₹2 trillion in the latest reporting period, according to industry data. This milestone highlights India’s rapid rise in global electronics manufacturing and its strengthening position in international supply chains.
The surge in iPhone exports is primarily driven by rising iPhone production in India, supported by global manufacturing partners and strong policy incentives. Today, iPhones account for more than 75% of India’s smartphone exports, making them a dominant contributor to the country’s electronics trade.
A key factor behind this growth is the production-linked incentive scheme, which has encouraged companies to scale up manufacturing operations in India. The scheme has helped attract global tech giants and strengthen domestic production capabilities, significantly boosting export volumes.
Major suppliers such as Tata Electronics and Foxconn have played a crucial role in expanding assembly lines and improving output efficiency. Their investments have directly contributed to the rise in iPhone exports from India, positioning the country as an important global manufacturing hub.
The success of Apple’s iPhone exports also reflects the broader impact of the Make in India program, which aims to transform India into a leading manufacturing destination. Under this initiative, electronics production has seen strong momentum, with smartphones emerging as a key export category.
Industry experts believe that continued expansion in iPhone production and supportive government policies will further strengthen India’s role in global value chains. This growth is also expected to generate employment and enhance technological capabilities in the manufacturing sector.
