Horticulture Exports: Will UP’s New Portal Work?
Horticulture Exports: Will UP’s New Portal Work?
Uttar Pradesh has taken a major step towards expanding horticulture exports by launching the State Horticulture Export Promotion Board website. The new digital platform is designed to help farmers access overseas markets, understand export procedures, meet quality standards and benefit from government support.
The initiative aims to create stronger connections between farmers and international buyers while enhancing the state’s participation in global agricultural trade. Not only this, but the portal can also help producers navigate documentation, certification requirements and other processes involved in international shipments.
The move comes as India’s horticulture sector continues to gain importance in agricultural trade. Better access to export markets can provide farmers with opportunities to diversify their customer base and potentially enhance returns for quality produce.
Growth in Uttar Pradesh Boosting Horticulture Exports
Uttar Pradesh already has around 3,000 exporters spread in the all 75 districts. The state has recorded notable growth in horticulture and agro-processed exports, which increased from ₹727 crore in 2016-17 to ₹1,132 crore in 2025-26.
The new platform could further boost the Indian horticulture industry by encouraging more farmers and businesses to participate in international markets. Enhanced export infrastructure, quality compliance and market information are important for expanding the exports of horticulture products.
With rising global demand for fresh produce and processed agricultural goods, initiatives supporting horticulture production and market access could play a significant role in making Uttar Pradesh a stronger contributor to India’s agricultural export ambitions.
