According to reports, Indian exports are witnessing a significant shift as traditional commodities such as pickles, honey, and curry pastes gain popularity in international markets. Notably, the growing the global demand of these commodities, natural ingredients and health-conscious food choices is helping Indian exports to find new consumers overseas.
As per the reports, exports of 11 selected food products including honey, curry paste and pickle, reached $576.2 million in Financial year 2026, in the comparison of $372.9 million in financial year 2019. Honey and Pickle exports in the Indian exports basket
In the Indian exports basket, Honey exports have emerged as a major contributor as the US remains an important destination. At the same time, exports of pickles and other spices are gaining popularity due to growing global demand of ethnic and ready-to-use food across global markets. Moreover, the rise in curry paste reflects a broader shift in consumer preferences, as international buyers seek convenient products that deliver traditional taste without preparation.
For Indian exports, growth and expansion in this commodity range could help diversify the country’s merchandise exports beyond traditional categories. Not only this, but better packaging, quality standards, branding, and access to overseas markets could further boost India’s position in the global processed-food trade. As global demand increases for authentic and health-focused foods continues to expand, pickles, honey and curry pastes could become significant contributors to Indian exports basket and processed food exports.
