Ethanol Push: India Increases Biofuel Use to Aviation, Cooking Fuel and Exports
India’s Ethanol Push is taking one step forward as the government looks beyond its successful fuel blending programme to increase ethanol’s role in the country’s clean energy transition. The Centre is now exploring the use of ethanol in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), clean cooking fuel, and international export markets after achieving its ethanol blending programme target of 20% ahead of schedule,
The expansion is aimed at generating new avenues for ethanol demand along with boosting India’s biofuel ecosystem. Moreover, diversifying ethanol applications is expected to decrease reliance on fossil fuels, enhance energy security, and support the country’s long-term decarbonisation goals.
