Will Amul’s ₹650 Crore Modern Dairy Hub in West Bengal Work
Recently, Amul has announced an investment of ₹650 crore to establish a modern dairy hub in West Bengal, reflecting the commitment to boost the West Bengal Dairy Industry. Notably, the project deals with enhancing Milk Procurement, expanding Dairy Processing capacity, and developing advanced Dairy Infrastructure to support and fulfil the growing demand for dairy products in eastern India.
The new facility will create a robust Dairy Supply Chain that eliminates the gap between Dairy Farmers directly with organized markets. Eventually, the dairy farmers will benefit from better market access, higher returns, and transparent pricing mechanisms, through improved milk collection networks and modern processing facilities. Moreover, this initiative is set to play a crucial role in increasing Milk Production and ensuring quality standards throughout the value chain.
In addition, the investment outlines Amul’s focus on Cooperative Growth, a model that has empowered millions of farmers in the country. Now, in West Bengal, the company aims to create long-term opportunities for local milk producers and support sustainable agricultural development. Furthermore, the project will generate Rural Employment. Jobs related to milk collection, transportation, logistics, processing, packaging, and distribution will contribute to the economic development of the state. The modern Dairy Infrastructure will further improve efficiency and support the expansion of dairy-related businesses in the region.
Amul is not only expanding its footprint in eastern India but also leading growth in the West Bengal Dairy Industry through enhanced Milk Procurement, advanced Dairy Processing, stronger Dairy Supply Chain networks with this strategic investment and increased support for Dairy Farmers.
