Russia customs union Sept sugar import duty $171/T

The customs union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan has set an import tariff for raw cane sugar at $171 per tonne for September, in line with analysts' forecasts. The tariff rate, pegged to the New York sugar price, corresponds to the July average price of 17.62 cents per lb or $388.45 per tonne.
Mexico sees 1 mln T of sugar exports to U.S.-growers

Mexico's cane growers union said the country's 2010/11 sugar production should rise to above 5 million tonnes after two years of disappointing yields, helped by favorable rains and improved fertilizer prices.The boost in output will allow the country to export around one million tonnes of sugar to the United States under a free trade.
Vietnam to double sugar imports to 300,000 T-reports

Vietnam will import another 150,000 tonnes of sugar in coming months to offset a domestic shortage and stabilise prices, bringing the total this year to 300,000 tonnes.The agriculture ministry and trade ministry have agreed on the additional imports.
Sudanese sugar firm to expand output to 500,000 T

The state Sudanese Sugar Company is renovating four existing factories to increase output to 500,000 tonnes of sugar by November 2013 and upgrade quality.Tcompany also planned three new factories with a total of 375,000 tonnes of capacity and had already secured funding of $260 million from China for one 125,000 tonne capacity plant with a refinery in the central Sennar state.

Russia's main sugar lobby said on Friday it may lower its 2010 sugar beet output forecast to below 4 million tonnes after the drought slowed down the crop's roots development. The Russian Sugar Producers' Union said the country's third sugar beet test, the season's first for sugar content, showed a rise in the sugar content, higher root weight and larger sowings area.
