Vietnam's coffee exports surge 69 pct in July

Vietnam's coffee exports this month surged almost 70 percent from the same month last year to an estimated 90,000 tonnes, or 1.5 million bags by the end of July this year. July shipment brought exports of the commodity in the first 10 months of the 2009/2010 crop year to 1.03 million tonnes, or 17.2 million 60-kg bags, up only 1.1 percent from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office said in its monthly report.

Colombia's coffee production rose 17 percent in May while exports fell 1 percent, but the Andean nation will probably near its lowered mid-year target.Colombia, now the world's No. 4 coffee exporter after a dip in output, saw its production fall sharply last year due to drought, some insect infestation and a tree renovation program that took some areas out of production.
Colombian coffee benefited from good rains in April

After seven months of drought, Colombian coffee-growing regions recorded abundant rains in April that marked a turning point for plantations that are recovering with higher output and better quality beans. Rainfall returned to normal levels last month compared with historic averages in some coffee-producing areas, while in others the rains were even better than the average, the National Coffee Research Center (Cenicafe) said.

Brazil '10/11 coffee output to rise to 47 mln bags

Brazil's governmental crop agency Conab, has estimated the 2010/11 crop about to be harvested at 47.04 million 60-kg bags, which would be more than in the last large harvest two years ago but shy of a 2002/03 record.

Brazil exported 1.98 million 60-kg bags of green coffee in April, down 12 percent from 2.25 million bags in the same month a year ago.Total green coffee shipments in March were 2.39 million bags.
